Mitchell Collins (b. 1989, Orange, TX) is a filmmaker and sound artist. In 2023 his film Seabrook, TX was named Best Experimental Film at the Gulf Coast Film Festival. His work with poet Yolanda Movsessian has received The Audience Award and The Judges Prize from REELPoetry Houston. He received the 2017 HollyWeb Festival Award for “Best Music/Score” for his work on the Dekkoo series Paper Boys and was nominated for “Outstanding Musical Achievement” at the 2016 NYC Web Fest for the same series. He also works as a video archivist and researcher for the International Space Station Program at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, and in 2019 he served on the judges panel of the “Obscure Images” category for Houston Cinema Arts Society’s Cinespace Film Festival. He holds an MA in Scoring for Film & Multimedia from NYU and a BA in Music Composition from UCLA. Mitchell currently lives in Houston with his partner Josie and their dog, Batman.
